Today was my first day of “clipboarding.” For clipboarding, we go to a highly trafficked area on college campuses, approach a stranger and ask: “Can I ask you a question? What are your opinions on abortions?” Scary??? YES! This was probably the one thing that I was most scared of when I took the job. As I’ve admitted before, I’m scared of people and especially people on phones. I don’t know where that originated from, but it’s been there and it prevented me from getting involved with anything at home.
Sheri, Steve, (the other field agents), and I went with Kortney to a very liberal George Washington University in the heart of DC. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any student’s email address and the majority of the students were pro-choice, but it stirs up their emotions. Some of the students stood in utter shock at the question they were being asked. We asked one girl and she couldn’t get out an answer. We did get some comments like “it’s awesome!” but many were very unsure and uttered “well... I guess I’m pro-choice.” The most important thing is it causes people to think, even in they are pro-choice, even if they are unsure, it stirs something in them.
Honestly, clipboarding isn’t that bad and I am not as scared of people as I thought. I actually enjoyed it!
Sorry I’m becoming such a pro-life nerd, but its all I do now. I’ve been working until after 7 everyday! Here is a touching video:
