Why?

I just got new shoes! Unfortunately, I forgot about the pain that comes with getting new shoes. Pain? Yes, pain. After running way over my limit in my old shoes, I think my feet are now accustom to poor support. Now, my feet ache! But that's ok, a beautiful day called for a run along the Hudson River, complete with half an hour breaks to sit and view the skyline!

Lately, I've been wondering what in the world brought me to move halfway across the US. It seems like a completely selfish act. I packed up, left everyone I loved and moved to a completely new place. I was craving adventure and experience.

The other day, Casey reminded me that sometimes we need to move away from what we love just to appreciate it more. It's true. Because it's been bothering me so much, I brought it up in confession at Catholic Underground last night too. I believed that moving for selfish reasons was a sin, but the friar looked at my act from a different perspective. He said sometime we need to do things like this to test ourselves, find ourselves, and discover what God wants us to do. That means that we won't always do what's best for ourselves, but best for God.

I do miss home, but I'll be back in less than a month! I'm officially signed up to run the 5k on the track at Gina's. Yessssss. Blast from the past. I love competition! Obviously, I'm excited and I've got a countdown in my room!
