A New (Mexican) Cuisine

My family had dinner together almost every night in my 22+ years living at home. Usually, we are all tired and many times don't have too much to talk about, but that time together was always a constant.

Eating with family, let alone with people, is no more. That's a huge problem with living alone, no one go to when you come home from a long day, you just stay alone. The little things you fail to realize when moving away.

Last week, in honor of the family we no longer have near, Bailey made a New Mexican themed dinner! She made salsa from scratch, we chopped some veggies, fried some tortillas, smashed some beans and relaxed with some Coronas. I did make the mistake to telling her I didn't like my mom's tacos, that turned into me not liking any tacos... not true!

This was all topped off with dessert: Sopapillas! Deep fried dough that puffs up like a balloon. While they are still hot, you break open the corner and pour honey in them. Sooo good! I love trying new things! It goes along with my addition to new experiences!

We need to try to keep this family dinner thing up and are on the hunt for new recruits!

  1. Yummm! That was a delicious meal! We should try to tackle a different country every week... Mexico down, a million others to go! ;)
